Sauteed Chicken Wings with Shito Hot Paste

Shito is Ghana’s much-loved hot sauce, and what better way to partake of it than with some marinated chicken, sauteed to perfection?


  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 2 cups tomato puree
  • 4 tablespoons Ghana’s Choice Shito Hot Paste
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste


To season chicken wings coat them with a a mixture of black pepper and salt.

Place them in a large resealable plastic bag.

Blend the puree, hot chilies, onion powder, ginger and cumin in a food processor and mix well.

Add the hot paste into the bag with the chicken wings, seal and coat.

Marinate for at least 3 hours. Remove from bag.

In a large fry pan heat the oil over medium heat.

Sauté wings on medium-low for 30 minutes, turning sides often.

Serve with a side salad or grilled vegetables.
