This is classic and very popular grilled chicken dish from the province of Punjab in western India and Eastern Pakistan. In the sub-continent the chicken with it special marinade, which gives it the unique and much liked taste, is grilled in the tandoor, an earthen oven made with baked clay.


  • Chicken Breasts - 500 gm, cut into 2 inch cubes
  • Mehran Chicken Tikka Masala – 1 packet
  • 200 gm - hung curd
  • Onion – 1, finely sliced
  • Capsicum – 1, finely sliced
  • Tomato – 1, finely slices
  • Cabbage – 1 small wedge, finely sliced
  • Lemon – 1
  • Chilli Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Mehran Chat Masala – 1 tsp


In a large bowl, combine half the contents of the Mehran Tikka Masala and the hung curd. Stir in chicken, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Preheat a grill for high heat.

Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken onto skewers, and discard extra marinade. Grill until juices run clear, about 5 minutes on each side.

Mix all the rest of the thinly sliced vegetables with lime, chilli powder and chat masala and make a salad. Serve the grilled chicken tikka pieces in a bed of the tossed salad.
