Classic Chicken Qorma

This classic South Asian dish is so simple yet bursting with flavors….throw in some mushrooms, coconut or cashew nuts for a richer flavor….Mehran’s Qorma Masala gives it just the right uplift...some warm naan on the side will make a great accompaniment to this elegant dish!


  • 900 grams boneless chicken, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 large onion - coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger - minced finely
  • 2 teaspoons Mehran’s Qorma Masala
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups (1/2-inch) cubed peeled baking potato
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can tomato puree
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 (3-inch) cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish


On medium heat, heat a non-stick skillet. Add the chicken pieces; lightly sauté for around 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove chicken from pan.

Add the chopped onions to pan and saute for 3 minutes. Add ginger, garlic and the Qorma Masala.Add the chicken to the pan again.

Stir in the potato, salt, tomato puree and cinnamon. Cover and cook over a slow flame till the chicken is soft and tender.

Discard bay leaves and cinnamon stick. Stir in yogurt. Garnish with cilantro.
